Place steak on grill and cook until your steak has reached your preferred internal temperature, 120 °F for rare, 130 °F for medium rare, 140 °F for medium or 150 °F for well done.
Rub the steak all over with a good lug of olive oil and a good pinch of sea salt and black pepper. Add the steak to a hot pan, then cook for 6 minutes for medium-rare, or to your liking, turning every minute. For more flavour, try one or a combination of the followingâŠ. Halve a garlic clove and rub it over the steak every time you turn it.
For a gas grill, preheat for about 10-15 minutes with all burners on high. Grilling the steak: Place the seasoned ribeye steak directly on the hot grill grates at a 45-degree angle to get those beautiful grill marks. Let the steak cook for about 1-2 minutes without moving it. This allows for a nice sear to develop.
How to Cook Medium-Rare Steak. My favorite way to cook a medium-rare steak is in a smoking-hot, cast-iron skillet. If you prefer char-grilled flavor or youâre cooking a bone-in steak, take the steak outside and cook it on a preheated gas or charcoal grill. Either way, it should take about 4 to 5 minutes per side for a 1-inch steak.
Smoking the steak. Pre-heat your smoker to 180°F, place the steaks directly on the smokers rack and smoke without flipping for 20 minutes. Smoking too long at low temps will dry out the steak and make it tough, 20 minutes will impart a nice smoky flavor and won't dry it out.
1 3/4" â 8-9 minutes. 7. Season with pepper and let the steak rest for at least five minutes. As you cook your meat, the juices travel to the inside of your meat as the muscle fibers contract. If you cut your steak right after you take it from the grill, the juices in the center fall out more freely.
Add 2 minutes for a medium steak and check to ensure the internal temperature reaches 155°F. Preheating your gas grill to a temperature of about 450°F to 500°F before grilling is recommended, and make sure to defrost and let the steak warm up before placing it on the grill.
Reheat: Steak is best reheated in a 250 degree F oven until warm (25-30 minutes), then finished on medium-high heat with a small amount of oil on the stovetop for 1 minute on each side. Freeze: Wrap tightly or vacuum seal, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
