MacBooks are well-known for their photo editing capabilities, featuring powerful components that make image post-production a breeze. The latest M3 MacBooks are a real force to be reckoned with: they can be specced with a whopping 128GB RAM, up to 8 terabytes of storage space, and their ultra-bright Liquid Retina XDR displays are truly stunning.
hi all, i just bought a macbook air m2 with 8gb ram and 512gb ssd because i was afraid of the 256gb mono chip. Fear makes people make bad decisions. And all these people spreading fear have caused people like yourself to waste money and in the wrong places. That 256GB "mono chip" is still incredibly fast. You wouldn't notice it.
idk how much it costs where you live , but the m2 is 300 more expensive than the m1 for very little benefits. you could get a 8/256 m1 and save a lot of money, but the 16gb is truly better. as for space, you do you, i'm personally fine with 256gb, and 256gb speeds on m1= 512gb on m2.
Separately, the M2 MacBook Air with 256 GB of storage has a slower storage drive than M1 MacBook Airs and M2 versions with 512 GB of storage. While the 512GB version’s storage can be up to 50%
On SSD. You typically want to leave 20% free. 10% at an absolute minimum 256GB x 0.2 = 52.6GB 256GB - 160GB -52.6GB = 43.4GB remaining space to use for storage. Before you start noticeably impacting SSD performance. A lot of tech writers even place it at a more conservative 25% or even 30%.
Personally have a 256 24 m2 air. For web devs and very simple Unity games, its great. It struggles a bit with my company's project (a very complex 2.5d game) If you ask me, i would never recommend 8gb for dev/programming stuff, unless you know exactly everything you gonna do is fairly not too demanding.
With an all-new design comes some pricing changes for the MacBook Air. The M2 MacBook Air now starts at $1,199 / £1,249 for the base spec with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage, and an 8-core CPU / 8-core GPU chipset.
The first MacBook Air to ship with an SSD option in 2008 offered only 64GB (don’t even ask how much extra it cost). The MacBook Pro SSDs that came later that year offered both 128GB and 256GB
